First Lego League Team
Competitive Robotics Team
Youth Technology Learning Center (YTLC) is currently recruiting for FLL team members
ages 9 to 14. FLL® is a Lego centered competitive robotics team with judging in five categories consisting of robotic missions, robot design, technical, team interaction, and project presentation. To paraphrase Morgan Freeman "It is the hardest fun your child will ever have."
President Obama is pushing this program because its rewards are immeasurable. I have been a coach for FLL for the past two years and I have one trophy under my belt, but the experience alone is reward enough. I have two assistants and several mentors from champion high school FRC teams that aid us in our quest for victory.
Team members must be passionate about robotics and must commit to meeting at least twice a week and the first three Saturdays in December must be reserved for the regional competitions. The FLL team must serve as a priority above all other extra curricular activities. There is a lot of hard work and challenges, but YTLC intersperses plenty of fun with field trips to include a Chattahoochee rafting trip and barbecue for team dynamics, and pizza parties. There are team association dues to offset the exorbitant team costs, space rental, and to compensate teachers and coaches for their time. Our Robo Elite Team wins at Regional Qualifiers For more information on the First Lego League® please visit the US First website at http://www.usfirst.org/
