YTLC utilizes the complexities of computer programming to teach students to create their very own interactive computer video game. Students will work as a member of a production team on a large scale project. Students are able to work in different positions as designers, character creators, programmers, story developers, and game testers to create an intricate video game. Students develop team work, creative critiquing, and effective pitching of ideas.
Our students have competed in the Fulton County Tech fair and won multiple awards for their knowledge of programming, presentation, and design.
Video Game class focuses on interactive programming, animation, and game design for ages 8-16. This class is tailored to individual student needs and teaches children how to create a variety of video games depending on if the student is attending class, full summer camp, is a repeat student, attends a full week of camp, or attends a single day of camp.
Students learn basic programming skills to help them create their own interactive computer game. Students also gain fundamental computer skills including saving, copy, paste, right click vs. left click, shift click, Ctrl+Z/Edit Undo, and typing.
A class session runs for 12 weeks.
Children take their game home with them at the end of class/camp.
The game is playable on any PC based computer.
